Asus as a company is probably better known for its consumer PC. The company makes some of the best laptops in the market. Asus ROG (Republic of Gamers) is 1 of the best well-budgeted gaming laptop series.
Of course, that is not the only space that Asus is participating in. The Asus Zenfone devices do have a lot to offer the industry and the company’s ROG Phone are among the few dedicated gaming phones in the market.
The recently unveiled ROG Phone 5 represents the best that the company has to offer as it packs all the latest bells and whistles while adding a few gaming-centered features both in hardware and software.
This phone has received a lot of positive feedback from critics and users alike. However, it is not immune to issues and bugs. Many users (1,2,3) have been unhappy with the devices’ performance following the latest update.
According to a section of users, the ROG Phone 5 sees a significant drop in CPU clock frequency after the latest update.
Same issue here bro. Pubg, Codm. Even Playing with xmode It will have an fps drop and stuttering. So frustrating buying this phone. No matter how they justify it, its just very upsetting paying a huge amount of money and not getting what they are telling you what the phone is.

Some suggested workarounds including factory resetting don’t seem to remedy this issue as users are still facing this throttling even on new installs.
Already done that bro. Still the same. I think its the update messing around. This is not happening with the .26. and the phone is even hotter than before. Also, the clock speed in the xmode + has never been stable. Since and after I updated the phone. Is this a software issue, especially the clock speed? Or a hardware?

Asus, through a community forum moderator, is in the process of collecting data from affected users, data that should be instrumental when coming up with a fix.
We still don’t have any concrete info in terms of when this issue is going to be addressed by Asus and we shall be keeping an eye on this for more.
Knowing Asus, this issue is likely to be taken care of pretty soon. We can also only hope that Asus turns over a new leaf, and translate this same sense of urgency when rolling out new Android version updates.
