New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on May 27, 2021) follows:
The Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro (Mi 9T Pro) and the Poco X3 Pro are pretty alike when you take their purpose into consideration. Both devices were built with nothing but performance on mind.
To grant them both the flagship-killer tag, Xiaomi had to make some sacrifices to accommodate flagship Qualcomm processors (Snapdragon 855 on the Redmi K20 Pro and the Snapdragon 860 on the Poco X3 Pro) into them.
Needless to say, the Redmi K20 Pro was way pricier than the Poco X3 Pro at the time of release and thus comes with a more premium feature set including a Super AMOLED display and a glass back – both of which are lacking on the Poco X3 Pro.
And on the software side of things, the Redmi K20 Pro came with Android Pie out of the box, being launched back in 2019. In contrast, the Poco X3 Pro is already running the latest version of Android given its recent release.
Both devices have been in queue for the MIUI 12.5 update.
But being flagship-killers sure comes with its perks as the devices have now bagged the MIUI 12.5 stable update, joining the likes of the Xiaomi Mi 11 and proving that they’ve been prioritized with regards to updates.
The Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro has bagged the MIUI 12.5 update based on Android 11 as a stable beta in China currently. A global rollout shouldn’t be too far off though.
The download link and changelog for the MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi K20 Pro has been given below:
