OnePlus 7/7T OxygenOS 11.0.1.1 update triggers Widevine L3 & small Dialer/Calling UI issues (workarounds inside)

The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series bagged the OxygenOS 11.0.1.1 update recently along with the May security patch.

While the latest update for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series offers a lot of improvements, it also seems to have triggered a couple of issues for some.

As per multiple reports from the OnePlus Community, users of the OnePlus 7 and 7T series devices are facing an issue where the Widevine certification seems to have dropped to L3.

On the other hand, some users of the said devices are noticing that the Dialer app/Calling UI has become smaller.

So, let’s take a look at both issues for better understanding, possible workarounds, and fixes from the OEM.

It seems that users of the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, and 7T are facing the issue where the Widevine certification level has dropped to L3 after the May update.

Also, several users are not facing the said issue at all while some have said that the Widevine certification changed to L1 after the latest update.

While the actual cause of this issue is unclear because of its random nature, a OnePlus Staff Member has said that it will be fixed in an upcoming OTA.

In the meantime, affected users can try a workaround. Change the Screen Calibration to Natural via the Advanced Display settings and Disable the Dark mode.

Once done, clear the cache and storage for the apps, like Netflix, that are affected by the said issue. After that, Disable and re-enable the Biometric mode from the Play Store User Controls settings.

Now, reboot to the Recovery mode by pressing the Volume down and Power buttons, enter the device encryption password if any, choose a language then select Wipe Cache, and Reboot.

Small OnePlus Dialer app/Calling UI

This issue appears to be affecting users of the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro whereas non-pro users are not facing it.

As per multiple reports, it seems that the DPI for the OnePlus Dialer app seems to have changed after the latest update. This is causing inconvenience to users while the OEM has not said anything on the matter.

However, those affected by this issue can try manually installing the OnePlus Dialer app version 5.0.1.0.210427121540.2621c52. Moreover, changing the resolution to 1080p appears to be resolving the issue for some.

While one of the said issues has been acknowledged, users still have to dwell with the Dialer app/Calling UI problem.

OnePlus seems to be paying less attention to the quality of its software lately. This is certainly not good news for users as they are the ones at the receiving end.

Hopefully, the OEM takes a serious look into these matters and releases a proper fix for such issues soon.
