Will OnePlus 6/6T OxygenOS 11 (Android 11) update finally fix dropped frames issue?

Today, OnePlus is, arguably, a shadow of its former self as we’ve seen the company stumble on things that it would previously nail without any fuss.

Case in point, the recent rollout of Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 to its eligible devices. This rollout has been marred with delays, bugs and issues and more delays. More on that in our OxygenOS 11 tracker here.

Now, with this precedence in mind, we begin to understand why some issues on OnePlus’ older devices have gone unresolved for a long time.

See, when OnePlus rolled out stable Android 10-based OxygenOS 10 to the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, it quickly became apparent that there was an issue with dropped frames.

Years later and still, users of the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T are reportedly still facing the same issue.

Team, This is the 3rd time I faced low refresh rate while using mobile. Feels like 10hz while scrolling. I have already raised a feedback today morning. Again I got it. I have attached screenshot and captured the logs. Please fix this eye paining UI lag issue.

Users running recent builds as new as the latest OxygenOS 10.3.10 (1,2,3) are also facing this issue with even more of them on OxygenOS 10.3.9 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8).

OnePlus has finally acknowledged this issue and notified affected users that the developers are currently working on it.

Now, seeing as OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 users are awaiting the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 update as the next major milestone, could that be the update that finally addresses this issue? We gotta wait and see.

To recall, OnePlus said it plans to push out the Beta builds of OxygenOS 11 update for the OnePlus 6 and 6T devices sometime in August.

While that’s an awfully long time to wait for Android 11 for your device, you might want to look into the custom ROM community if you must have Android 11 now because hey, your warranty is already void!
