New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on May 13, 2021) follows:
The Mi 11X is one of those rare Xiaomi devices that are being sold under the banner of all 3 of the OEM’s ‘sub-brands’ based on the region.
Of course, you already know that the device is being sold as the Xiaomi Mi 11X in India. But did you also know that it is sold as the Redmi K40 in China and as part of the Poco brand in the rest of the world as the Poco F3?
Xiaomi’s naming schemes have been peculiar to say the least for years now, especially when it comes to the Redmi Note series so this doesn’t really come as a surprise.
Another thing that doesn’t surprise is that the Mi 11X, Poco F3, and the Redmi K40 are all suffering from some serious display green tint issues.
Got my pre-ordered @XiaomiIndia Mi 11x pro today only to see their DISPLAYMATE A+ panel having this really bad green tint issue and uneven brightness when viewing grey color.

I recently bought a Poco F3, and I’m trying to find if the green tint is a common issue or I have bad luck. To check it: select in color scheme->advanced->enhanced, turn the brightness very low, and turn on dark mode. Then go to the phone app or one with a solid gray color.

The tinting may be spread across the entire display with some areas glowing greener than others. It is most visible on dark backgrounds and low brightness levels. Some users also reported that it grows more apparent at 120Hz refresh rate.
The issue is a major setback for an otherwise perfect super AMOLED screen with top-notch specs such as 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and an insane peak brightness of 1300 nits.
But exactly why is the issue unsurprising? Well, as it stands, green tinting issues seem to be plaguing almost every device with an AMOLED display at any price range for the past couple of years.
We have seen reports from devices from several OEMs in the past. Some of these include the OnePlus 8 Pro, iPhone 12 series, and even Xiaomi’s recently released Redmi Note 10 Pro.
From this, it isn’t hard to establish that these tint issues are likely hardware-related. Still, their intensity can be reduced to a degree with software updates as OEMs have demonstrated in the past.
And the same case now seems to be occurring with the Xiaomi Mi 11X as well. Mi India Support on Twitter stated that they’re aware of the issue, are working on a fix, and will roll out an update as soon as possible.
We will continue to keep an eye on the Poco F3/Mi 11X green tint issues of course and will update this article accordingly so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
Update 1 (August 06)
Three months later and the promised bug-fixing update never made it to the Xiaomi Mi 11X (Poco F3) users affected by the screen tint issues. Mi Support on Twitter continues saying that they’re working on a fix:
We understand your disappointment. We’ve noticed this issue, which occurs on certain instances /scenarios where the background image supposedly is dark. The team is working on it and will roll out a fix as soon as possible.
