New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on May 10, 2021) follows:
Hulu and other streaming platforms have saved most of us from losing our minds during the ongoing pandemic thanks to the vast selection of content that’s available to watch.
But it seems that many Hulu users have recently started reporting that the Live TV keeps buffering on the Amazon Fire TV Stick and Cube.
We’ve shared some reports from disgruntled users for reference below:
@hulu_support love that I can’t watch any programs at all on any station because it keeps freezing up and don’t tell me it’s my internet or device because it’s not. (Source)
Hulu with Live TV isn’t work on Fire TV (again). Started last night, still not working this a.m. Same issue as experienced two weeks back. Do you have an update to share or tips to troubleshoot? (Source)
Anyone else being having issues with Hulu live? I can’t decide if it’s Hulu or my fire stick (Source)
Reports of the issue started coming in a few weeks ago and Hulu support did acknowledge the problem by claiming that they’ve received similar reports and are working to resolve it.
Unfortunately, the problem still exists and Hulu Live viewers have been querying about the fix for the buffering or freezing issue on the Amazon Fire TV devices all this while.
The most recent update from Hulu support suggests that the problem might be fixed soon since the company is now tackling it with “high priority”.
Now that a fix for the issue is being worked on with high priority, users can find some solace in knowing that the annoying bug will get squashed soon. Hopefully!
As usual, we’ll keep tabs on the situation and will post an update if and when there are any further developments.
Update 1 (May 13)
01:56 pm (IST): After terming it as a high priority issue, Hulu support now says there’s no ETA for when the issue will be fixed:
Update 2 (June 17)
06:20 pm (IST): It has been over a month since a fix was promised for the issue where Hulu Live constantly buffers on Amazon Fire TV but the said fix is still not out which is why users are ditching Hulu Live for other services like YouTube TV.
Hey @hulu_support… since all-hands-on-deck aren’t getting it done with the Amazon Fire TV live fix, I’m leaving and going to @YouTubeTV. Tired of waiting and still paying full price.

The relevant Hulu team is still working on resolving the said issue with high priority, as per Hulu Support. However, it seems that the high priority tag and losing customers mean little to the service provider.
We’d be sad to see you go, Denny! Rest assured our team is working on this with high priority. We truly appreciate your patience while we work on a permanent fix.

Update 3 (August 19)
11:20 am (IST): In response to one of the affected users, Hulu Support on Twitter goes to acknowledge this issue, noting that the team is actively investigating.
Thanks for following up with us! It sounds like you may be affected by something that our team is actively investigating. While we don’t have an ETA to share on a fix at the moment, rest assured we have all hands on deck working towards a fix. We appreciate your patience!
