New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (published on May 12) follows:

Motorola is doing a decent job with the rollout of Android 11 to eligible devices from its portfolio even though it was late to the party.

At the time of writing, the Lenovo-owned smartphone vendor has pushed the new Android OS to close to a dozen models.

The Motorola Moto G Power was the latest device to bag the update to Android 11. And now it appears Motorola is sending out the update to two more phones.

Recent developments suggest that Motorola is rolling out the Android 11 update for the Moto G9 and Moto G9 Play under its soak test program.

This means that the update has only been released to users who signed up to Motorola Feedback Network or MFN — a program that allows select users to test upcoming updates and share feedback with the company.

A user from India has confirmed receiving the Android 11 update through the soak test program on the Motorola Moto G9.

Apart from Android 11, the new build also carries the May 2021 security patch. Check out the screenshot of the System Update page below:

Similarly, an individual has shared a video on YouTube showing off stuff that’s changed on the Motorola Moto G9 Play after installing the update to Android 11, as part of the soak test.

The YouTuber, based out of Brazil, has been fairly accurate in the past with information regarding soak tests for Motorola smartphones.

You can watch the complete video (in Portuguese) below for more details.

Do note that this information is based on comments and details shared by users, not Motorola. Hence, we’d suggest taking the news with a pinch of salt.

Having said that, now that the soak test for the Android 11 update for the Motorola Moto G9 and Moto G9 Play has begun, we can’t expect to see a wider rollout begin shortly.

So stay tuned to our dedicated tracker to know more about the status and availability of Android 11 for all Motorola smartphones.
