Google Home & Home Mini timer/alarm suddenly playing harp & bird chirping sound issue known & being looked into

Google Home and Home Mini can be real companions that can carry out tasks like entertaining when bored and wake you up every morning with an alarm.

A lot of us who own these smart speakers must have used the alarm or a timer feature at least once. The sound was pleasing to the ears and highly liked by many.

But recently, the sound changed with no prior announcement. Google has introduced a new sound for the alarm and timer reminders.

Users woke up to their Home Minis playing the harp & birds chirping sound on the morning of May 9, leaving everyone surprised as this wasn’t something they were expecting or wished.

Plenty of reports have already started to flow on social media platforms where users clearly seem to not like the changed alarm sound on Google Home Mini.

Did anyone else’s google home change its timer sound on its own? I find it alarming that a piece of technology in my home has essentially become a sentient being. (Source)

Google Nest Hub, on the other hand, goes extreme with flower images flashing on display along with the floral/bird chirp sound.

Users have been trying to change it to the default sound but there’s no way to do that, at least for now.

A user shared the news that it could possibly be due to the occasion of Mother’s day and this sound is probably a Mother’s day easter egg from Google.

This was indeed announced and was a sweet gesture but since the announcement didn’t weigh enough to reach more people plus the poor selection of sound, Google’s plan didn’t go as they would have expected.

But considering the easter egg thing from Google, it should automatically get changed to the previous sound pretty soon.

The tech giant support, however, took the feedback and says it is already being looked into. There’s a feedback channel as well in case the sound doesn’t change back to normal.

Google keeps playing around with its assistant and this goes as +1 to the list. That said, we will keep you posted with the new developments.
