T-Mobile OnePlus 7T Pro 5G finally gets stable OxygenOS 11 (Android 11) update

In the Android ecosystem, it is not uncommon to see carrier devices lagging behind their unlocked counterparts in terms of updates for weeks and sometimes, months.

While the situation has since greatly improved, it is still a far cry from what most users would consider ideal.

This situation is made even worse when you bear in mind that there are specialized devices that might not exactly have their unlocked counterparts whose software can then be easily ported over.

And such has been the situation for users of the T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G. To recall, we saw OnePlus finally rolling out stable Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 to the OnePlus 7 series in March.

However, it wasn’t until later in April that T-Mobile was able to push out the stable version of the same to the OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Users of the T-Mobile OnePlus 7T Pro 5G had to wait even longer as the update was still under development when the others were getting their stable releases.

Well, that finally ends today as T-Mobile is pushing out the stable build of Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 to the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G.

The update which bears software version number OxygenOS 11.0.1.2.HD61CB has a May 7 release date and also brings April 2021 patch along with stable Android 11.

Like many other updates from T-Mobile, we don’t have a download link to the firmware, at least not yet. Instead, T-Mobile says:

When it’s ready for you, your device will provide a notification that the update is available and how to download it.

With this rollout, the T-Mobile OnePlus 7T Pro 5G joins the other devices in the OnePlus 7 series that have since bagged Android 11 update, leaving the OnePlus 6 series (oldest supported devices), and the Nord N-devices on OxygenOS 10.

While we know that the OnePlus 6 update won’t come until sometime later in August, we still don’t know much about the OnePlus Nord N10 and N100.
