Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 missing Second Space feature, but there is a way to bring it back

Second Space is an extremely useful feature for balancing home and work life. You can create a dedicated space for all the work-related apps during work hours and not be disturbed by any random texts.

It also comes in really handy if you happen to use a dual SIM config and want two versions for chat apps like WhatsApp and Telegram to use both your phone numbers simultaneously.

However, this useful little tool is missing on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10. And users are definitely not pleased:

Hi, I just bought my xiaomi redmi note 10 (4gb/64gb) 3 days ago and after setting it up, I noticed it does not have Second Space app in the Special Feature. How can I find/get it?

Second Space is typically found under “Special features” in the Settings app on Xiaomi/Poco devices running MIUI 12. But the feature appears to be missing on the Redmi Note 10.

Now it is worth mentioning here that the Redmi Note 10 isn’t the only device with complaints like these. We previously highlighted how a recent update on the Redmi Note 9 did away with several ‘inessential’ features as well.

Some other entry-level models are affected as well and Xiaomi has been doing this in a desperate bid to make improvements to the performance issues plaguing such devices.

Xiaomi has even meddled with the Control Center on several devices by firstly doing away with Gaussian blur and then removing the toggle for the Control Center altogether. If you are one of those affected, then you would want to check this out.

Do keep in mind though that these feature removals are most likely a temporary measure and should be reversed with the MIUI 12.5 update. Although we wouldn’t be too sure of that.

But for now, there are a couple of workarounds available for the missing Second Space on the Redmi Note 10 or any other Xiaomi device that should be of help:

1. Use stock Android’s user profiles: Stock Android already has a built-in feature to support multiple users that has been kept hidden on MIUI. To access it, you will first need to disable MIUI optimization.

To do that, head over to the Developer options and scroll to the bottom. There should be a toggle there labeled “Turn on MIUI optimization”. Just flip the switch off. In case the MIUI optimization toggle is missing, then head here for a way to access it.

Next, go back to the Settings home page where you should now see an option that reads “Multiple users”. Just create a new profile and use it as your Second Space.

2. Use VMOS: Alternatively, you can also use the VMOS app to emulate another Android OS on top of your main MIUI-based Android OS. To download this app, head over to its official website. We do not recommend this method though.
