The Redmi Note 10 series is very well the most extensive lineup ever offered by Xiaomi under the umbrella of the immensely successful Redmi Note series.
Xiaomi has ensured that no stone is left unturned this time and has filled that particular price range with a plethora of options to pick from, thus barely leaving any space for the competition to fit in.
Want a camera-centric Redmi Note for some pro-level photography? Just go for the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max that comes with a 108 MP shooter. Want a futureproof 5G device at an entry-level price? The Redmi Note 10 5G has got you covered.
Heck, there is now even a Mediatek variant that serves as a great alternative for those looking for an offbeat Redmi Note and aren’t fond of the Snapdragon processors the others in the lineup are powered with.
Enter the Redmi Note 10S that has the body of the Redmi Note 10 but comes with a much more powerful processor – the Mediatek Helio G95. This bad boy is comparable in performance to the Snapdragon 732G found on the more expensive Redmi Note 10 Pro.
On the software end of things, the Redmi Note 10S comes with Android 11-based MIUI 12 out of the box just like other recently released Xiaomi devices.
Xiaomi says this is because they ship their phones with the MIUI version available at the time of production. And in the case of the Redmi Note 10S, it unfortunately happened to be MIUI 12.
But that hasn’t been the case for long as the device has now bagged MIUI 12.5 just over a week after release. The download link for the update has been given below:

Yep, you read that right. The update is for the global/Indian market which makes the Redmi Note 10S the first Xiaomi device to bag a global MIUI 12.5 update. Till now, MIUI 12.5 stable releases were kept limited to China.
Moreover, there was no global timeline available for the update as Xiaomi has only released China-specific ones to date.
But now that MIUI 12.5 global is live for the Redmi Note 10S, it is safe to assume that the likes of Mi 11, which have already bagged MIUI 12.5 stable in China, should receive the same in other regions as well.
This will be followed by the remainder of eligible devices. For now, be sure to keep an eye on our dedicated MIUI 12.5 update tracker so that you do not miss out on any new developments.
