Spotify app still missing native support on Apple Silicon (M1) devices 6 months later, no word on availability

Apple released its M1 SoC in 2020 for the Macs and iPad Pro. It is a powerful CPU with a clock rate of 3.2 GHz and 12 cores.

Spotify, on the other hand, has been around since 2006 and the app is available on multiple platforms.

However, Apple users are facing a major issue with the Spotify app as it does not support Apple’s latest CPU architecture.

As per multiple reports, users are unable to use the Spotify app on their Apple M1 powered devices.

Reports of the said issue have been around on online platforms like Reddit and Spotify Community for quite some time.

A Spotify user requested support for Apple M1 to be added way back in November 2020 and it was marked as a new idea.

However, it might have not gained enough attention then as it was passed on to the relevant team in February 2021, as per a Spotify Community moderator.

Now, Spotify has still not added support for the latest Apple SoC which is causing inconvenience to users.

While the support request has been with the relevant team for quite some time, there is no ETA on when it will be implemented.

It seems that Spotify users will have to wait until the said support is finally added to the app.

Hopefully, Spotify releases an Apple M1 supported version of the app soon as users have been waiting for quite some time.

Currently we have no official info on an exact date when Spotify is going to be released natively for the M1 chip.
