The Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite, just like the name implies, is the toned-down and more wallet-friendly version of Xiaomi’s 2019 flagship – the Mi 9. The devices may look quite similar and may even have the same screen size but that’s where the similarities end.

The biggest difference that sets them apart is that the Mi 9 Lite comes with a modest Snapdragon 710 while the Mi 9 makes use of the top-tier Snapdragon 855.

Anyway, we previously highlighted the MIUI 12.5 rollout for the Mi CC9 Meitu Edition. The device is basically the same as the Mi 9 Lite apart from slightly upgraded cameras.

In it, we had pointed out that since the Mi CC9 Meitu Edition is now running MIUI 12.5 stable, the update for the Mi CC9 shouldn’t be too far off given the devices’ near-identical spec sheets.

And that’s exactly what has happened now as the MIUI 12.5 update just began rolling out for the Mi CC9 in China.

The changelog is pretty lengthy but the most notable changes include performance improvements, enhanced privacy features, an updated Notes app, new animations, and some UI tweaks. You also get the March security patch.
