So, let’s take a look at the official workarounds to fix the crashing issue on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One along with the unknown error message fix.

Fallout 76 crashing on PC

The first step to fix the crashing issue on PC (Microsoft Windows) is to check whether the latest AMD or Nvidia video card drivers are installed.

After that, ensure that Fallout 76 is being launched with administrative privileges. If the issue persists, open the Bethesda.net launcher and select Fallout 76 then go to Game Options and select the Scan and Repair option.

Also, Steam users can verify the integrity of game files by opening Steam and heading over to Library. Once done, open Fallout 76 Properties by right clicking on the game and switch to the Local Files tab and select the Verify Integrity of Game Files… option.

Now, select Yes and press the X button on the controller again. Once done, select Fallout 76 and press X on the controller to restart the game.

Plug in the power cable and switch on the console by pressing and holding the PS button on the controller.

If power cycling does not address the issue, check out the next step for clearing the save data.

Clearing the save data will not affect the game progression or character data but will remove photos from the Photo Gallery so make sure to back them up on the PlayStation cloud.

Once done, go to Settings from the PlayStation Dynamic Menu and select Application Saved Data. In this section, go to the Saved Data in System Storage option and select Delete then select Fallout 76 by checking the radio box next to it.

Now, delete the save data by selecting the Delete option on the bottom right then selecting OK.

If the issue persists, power cycle Xbox One by pressing and holding the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds. Now, unplug the power cable for 10 seconds then plug it back in and switch on the console by pressing the Xbox button on it.

Fallout 76 unknown error message

Players may get the ‘An unknown error has occurred [4:7:0] – Error Code’ message at times which may prevent them from playing the game.

This message usually appears when Fallout 76 is not launched using the Bethesda.net Launcher or if users are not completely signed into their Bathesda.net account.

So, the said issue can be fixed by verifying the Bethesda.net account login and launching the game from the Bethesda.net launcher.
