Tasker is arguably one of the best and most powerful automation apps available for Android smartphones thanks to the boatload of features it offers.

The app has been around for a long time now and its developers have been regularly adding new stuff and squashing existing bugs.

And the latest 5.12.16 release candidate update for Tasker brings some much-needed fixes as well as support for the SAF file system in the App Factory.

In case you’re unfamiliar with Tasker, the App Factory is an extension for the app that lets users create apps from a task or project in less than 10 seconds.

Now, let’s get down to the fixes that the new Tasker 5.12.16-rc update brings.

For starters, it fixes the issue when downloading Google Drive files to external storage in some situations.

The developer has also squashed the bug where editing an action and then restarting the activity would result in the inputs for the action resetting.

Besides that, some root-related actions have been fixed and the update apparently also fixes the ‘Multiple Variable Set’ action in some cases.

Here’s the complete changelog for Tasker 5.12.16-rc:

– Made app factory not use legacy file access and use the new required SAF file system

– Fixed issue when downloading Google Drive files to external storage in some situations

– Show variable values directly in the “Variable Actions For…” dialog that shows up when you long click a variable

– Fixed some situations where editing an action and then restarting the activity would result in the inputs for the action resetting

– Fixed some root related actions running in some situations

– Fixed “Multiple Variable Set” action in some situations

Again, this is only a release candidate update, meaning it will only be available to beta testers. Although, the developer hopes they can release the new version for the public soon.

That said, you can download the Tasker 5.12.16 release candidate update directly by clicking here.
