New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 27, 2021) follows:
More and more OEMs continue to roll out their respective Android 11-based custom skins to their eligible devices. We’re closely following this rollout and you can check out our dedicated Android 11 tracker for more.
OnePlus had a really good start, managing to roll out Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 to the OnePlus 8 series of devices about a month after Google’s devices bagged it.
Recently, we’ve seen some Android 11 action in the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7T and OnePlus Nord camps. Sadly though, we haven’t seen much with regards to the oldest eligible devices, the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T.
Today, OnePlus is rolling out an update to the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. This update with software version number OxygenOS 10.3.8 is still based on Android 10.
So what’s new in this release? Well, below is the update changelog.
Changelog
System updates
-Updated MemberShip to 1.2.0.2
-Updated Android Security Patch to 2021.01
-Updated GMS package to 2020.09
OnePlus Store
-An intuitive and convenient way to manage your OnePlus account, get easy-to-access support, discover exciting members-only benefits, and shop for OnePlus products. (Please note that it can be uninstalled)

This update brings little in terms of features and bug fixes. Most notable from this update is the updated Android security patch level to January 2021, and the newer Google Mobile Services package.
OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T are the oldest supported devices with this Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 update and as such, they lie pretty low on OnePlus’ priority list right now. To recall, we recently saw the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T receive end-of-life updates.
It remains unclear when exactly OnePlus plans to start rolling out Beta builds for this device or even the stable version of OxygenOS 11 as the OnePlus Nord and OnePlus 7 devices are still undergoing testing.
We shall continue to follow this OnePlus 6 OxygenOS 11 development and update as and when we get more info. In the meantime, users might want to keep an eye on this project for prospects of a life for their device beyond official support.
