New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on April 26, 2021) follows:
MIUI 12.5 update has made it to several devices in China including the likes of Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 11, and Mi 9 SE. These devices were part of the first batch of the update rollout which has already been completed.
This means that the second batch is now next in line. Xiaomi had previously released an updated and more specific timeline promising MIUI 12.5 stable starting by the end of May for this.
This timeline is mostly comprised of mid-rangers like the Redmi K20 Pro but also a few flagship levels like the Mi 10S.
But what’s odd is that Xiaomi has now released the MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi K40 and Redmi Note 9 5G way ahead of schedule. Keep in mind though that these are the Chinese variants and go by different names globally.
The Redmi K40 carries a codename of ‘alioth’ and is sold as the Mi 11X in India and Poco F3 in the rest of the world. This is coupled with the Redmi Note 9 5G (cannon) that goes by the name of Redmi Note 9T 5G globally.
That said, the download link for the MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi K40 has been given below along with the complete changelog:
