Xiaomi typically updates their latest releases quite frequently. This set of initial updates is mostly meant to iron out some of the kinks found in a device’s early days.
Eventually, such monthly updates gradually get more scarce as the device nears the end of its software support. Xiaomi is known to give out 2 Android updates to most of its devices, which means at least 2 years of updates.
But that shouldn’t be of concern for Redmi Note 10 series users currently as the lineup is currently as fresh as it can get. We previously highlighted how the Redmi Note 10 Pro received its very first update even before release.
This was followed by the release of kernel sources for both the Redmi Note 10 Pro and Note 10 Pro Max post-release, which kickstarted custom ROM development.
Still, the devices came with a dated January security patch even after being launched in March, which is why Xiaomi is now rolling the latest April security patch with an OTA update.
But that’s not all that the updates that carry the version numbers of 12.0.5, 12.0.10, and 12.0.14 have to offer as there is plenty of other good stuff as well.
For starters, you get several new camera filters so you can use that 64/108 MP shooter to your heart’s content. These new filters are BBP, Mystery, Lime, Tango, Fantasy, Slumber, Carmen, and Summer.
Next up is a minor but extremely useful Control Center tweak that allows you to open the notification shade by swiping down from the upper left corner, and from the upper right corner to open the Control Center.
Additionally, there is a new option to switch between connected devices from the media playback notification itself. This is something that was brought about by stock Android 11 and it’s great to see MIUI implementing it as well.
Last but not the least, the Redmi Note 10 Pro/Pro Max screen flickering issue at 120Hz has finally been addressed with the April update so that’s one less thing to bother about now.
If you haven’t yet received an OTA, then you are free to try a manual installation for the Redmi Note 10 Pro/Pro Max April update through the MIUI Updater after downloading the update ZIP as per your region:
