MIUI 12.5 development is now in full swing. Xiaomi kick-started their MIUI 12.5 stable rollouts with the Mi 10 Ultra late last month. The update had come out a bit sooner than expected as the OEM’s promised release date was Q2 2021.

Soon after, Xiaomi’s flagship Mi 11 became the second device to bag MIUI 12.5 stable followed by the Mi 9 SE. Of course, now that the ball had been set in motion, more devices followed suit.

Anyway, the company’s initial update timeline revealed during the global MIUI 12.5 launch was too vague and left plenty of room for doubt. This is why a new and more specific timeline was released a week or so back.

Subsequently, the MIUI 12.5 update hit the internal stable beta testing stage for most of the eligible Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco devices. This testing is still limited to China though as the program isn’t open for global users.

Still, devices like the Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11, Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10, and the Mi 9 SE should bag MIUI 12.5 globally soon as well since they’re now all running the update in China.

MIUI’s official handle on Weibo also recently made a post announcing the completion of these initial rollouts:

The devices in question all constituted Xiaomi’s first batch of MIUI 12.5-eligible devices set to bag the update by April 30. Xiaomi surprised us all once again though by finishing ahead of schedule.

But now that the first batch has been gotten over with, what happens next? Well obviously, another batch is next in line.

This second batch is mostly made up of mid-range devices but also contains several flagship-level ones like the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 10S. The immensely popular Redmi Note 9 Pro is also a part. You can access the complete list of devices from here.

The ETA for the second batch has been given as late May. But the date is specific to China and judging from past patterns, global releases should commence a month or so later.
