Rocket League Season 3 is now underway following its launch on April 7. The newest content in the popular sports game adds several new cars, dozens of unlockable cosmetics, and a Rocket Pass.
However, it appears that the cosmetic changes have broken the Dune Racer skin for the Octane. As many may already be aware, the Dune Racer is a limited edition decal that was given out for free to those that watched RLCS.
Some of its variants are pretty valuable on the trade market considering that they’re from really old RLCS drop sets. For example, the Titanium White variant of the Dune Racer decal trades for around 30-40k credits.
With this new update, my black Dune Racer turns my titanium white octane (and my normal unpainted octane) pitch black.

These decals have been messed up following the April 7 update though. The Octane now appears sort of black with the Dune Racer decal no matter what variant of the decal is selected in Rocket League.
Several users have also reported pixelation issues making the car appear glitched out. Now, a black finish does look kind of cool with certain color combinations.
However, many other design configurations simply look ruined. An example of this kind has been given below:
A few Rocket League players that have always wanted a black-colored Octane may even like stuff this way. Still, something is clearly broken and definitely needs some fixing.
The black coloring isn’t the only visual glitch though. There are also some complaints stating that the Octane appears to have a pearlescent finish even when nothing of the kind is applied.
Nonetheless, if you are one of those facing the messed up Dune Racer decal issue for the Octane, then you don’t need to worry for long as Rocket League is already aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
Thus, if all goes well, a fix for the same should be rolled out pretty soon with the next update. For now, it is recommended to switch use another decal.
