New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on March 31, 2021) follows:
LG Velvet 4G and LG Q92 5G came out in 2020 with Android 10 out-of-the-box and the wait has been on for Android 11 ever since.
As per an earlier software update schedule, the German LG Velvet 4G and 5G variants are expected to get the latest OS update in the third quarter of 2021.
However, the Korean LG Velvet 5G variant has already bagged the said update and now it is time for the 4G variant.
As per LG’s updated software update schedule, LG Velvet 4G and LG Q92 5G are expected to get the Android 11 update in Q2, 2021.
This software schedule is only meant for the Korean LG devices which means that other regional variants may have to wait a while.
According to the software update plan, the latest OS updates for LG Velvet LTE and LG Q92 5G will offer improved performance.
Apart from that, LG V50S ThinQ and LG Q52 are also scheduled to get performance updates, albeit without the OS upgrade.
Also, it is not mentioned when the rollout is expected to begin so users will have to wait until the OEM decides to roll out the said updates
While the development of Android 12 is in full force, it is still good to see that the likes of LG are striving to update their eligible devices to Android 11.
Hopefully, LG releases the aforementioned updates within the scheduled time frame without any delays.
That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our LG Android 11 update tracker to get the latest updates on the topic.
Moreover, we have a consolidated Android 11 update tracker for all major OEMs and carriers so be sure to go through it as well.
Update 1 (April 19)
LG has released the Android 11 kernel source code for the LG Q92 5G with the model number LMQ920N. This suggests that the company may release the stable Android 11 update for the device sooner rather than later.
