The Samsung Galaxy A80 was launched in April 2019 and came with Android Pie out of the box. Since then, it has bagged an Android 10 update based on One UI 2.0 and has stayed there ever since.

Being a mid-range device meant that the A80 was clearly not Samsung’s priority when it comes to updates and thus the device never really got a taste of One UI 3.0.

However, Samsung had other plans for the device and has now released a new One UI 3.1 update based on Android 11 for Indian users. This means that the One UI 3.0 update has effectively been skipped.

This comes following the first rollouts of the One UI 3.1 update for the Samsung A80 over a week ago.

For the uninitiated, the One UI 3.1 update brings Google Discover feed integration, Google Home Device Controls, Google Duo integration, new video call effects, eye comfort shield, object eraser in Gallery, new Camera features, and more.

The update was awaited for quite a long time. After all, the first official release date list for One UI 3.0 was revealed over three months back. Therefore, excited users [1, 2] have now been sharing update screenshots on forums.

As clear from above, the changelog is pretty extensive and mentions some of the changes we already mentioned above. Additionally, the update brings the latest March security patch and carries a total size of 2548 MB.

If you haven’t received the update yet, then you might want to perform a manual check from Settings > Software update > Download and install. If it still fails to show up, then the likely reason is that the update is being rolled out in stages and hasn’t yet made it to your device.

Nonetheless, it is worth mentioning here that the Android 11 update may very well be the final update for the device. After all, it was launched with Android Pie and has now completed its promises of two Android updates.

This does not mean though that software support for the Samsung Galaxy A80 ends with this update. The device should still get security updates for at least another year.

That said, be sure to inform us if you have received the One UI 3.1 update on your Samsung Galaxy A80 in the comments below. If yes, then let us know about your experience so far.
