New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on March 27, 2021) follows:
OnePlus has finally decided to stop hiding from the fact that the company is majority-owned by Oppo, which in turn falls under the BBK Electronics family along with Vivo, Realme, and iQOO.
The company recently announced that it’s ditching its HydrogenOS skin in favor of Oppo’s ColorOS skin for its devices sold in China.
While this move might be confusing for folks outside of China, it’s what customers in the region actually prefer. Matter of fact, ColorOS 11 has been well-received by many tech enthusiasts in the west as well.
OnePlus recently revealed a list of phones that would be eligible for the Android 11-based ColorOS 11 skin which includes the likes of the OnePlus 8 series as well as the 7 and 7T series.
But, at the time, it failed to share details regarding the availability of ColorOS 11 for any of the eligible devices.
Luckily, we didn’t have to wait all that long for further clarification. OnePlus has confirmed that it’s kick-starting the ColorOS 11 early adopter program for the OnePlus 7/7 Pro / 7T / 7T Pro towards the end of September.
But that isn’t all, OnePlus 8/8 Pro and 8T users will get to try out the Android 11-based ColorOS 11 skin by June-end. Again, this is only the timeline for the early adopter program.
The company would most likely reveal details about the stable update after it kick-starts the beta program in China.
ColorOS 11 brings a lot to the table in terms of features as well as performance enhancements.
And now that OnePlus has coughed up availability details, users in China can begin counting days for when they’ll get to experience ColorOS 11 on their OnePlus 8, 8T, 7, and 7T series smartphones.
That said, OnePlus users elsewhere can head to our dedicated tracker to know more about the availability of OxygenOS 11 for all eligible devices.
As usual, we’ll keep track of all developments regarding the availability of ColorOS 11 for OnePlus smartphones. So stay tuned to PiunikaWeb to be informed on the same.
