New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on March 27, 2021) follows:

Much to the disappointment of many, Xiaomi had scrapped their open beta testing program for everyone a couple of years back and instead limited it to China alone. This resulted in a huge gap between the time new features rolled out for Chinese testers and the time they rolled out globally.

Of course, there was a pretty valid reason given out by Xiaomi for this. The OEM wanted to provide nothing but the most stable experience for its global users and restrict its rough-around-the-edges MIUI beta experience to selected users only.

However, there’s always a section of people that feel left out and wish to make their contribution to the development of MIUI. Or they might just want to get their hands on the bleeding edge version of MIUI along with all the goodies that it offers.

Thankfully, Xiaomi got these global users covered with their new global stable testing initiatives. We previously highlighted how the new pilot testing programs could be a precursor to MIUI 12.5 stable rollout.

Nonetheless, the previous recruitment was all about global testing. But this time around, Xiaomi has now launched a new program aimed solely at Indian users.

Not too many details have been given out regarding the program. There is still no mention of the MIUI version that will be tested, just like last time.

However, one can still speculate that the testing is indeed for MIUI 12.5 especially since most of the MIUI 12-eligible devices are now already running it just fine.

Moreover, MIUI 12.5 stable releases are just around the corner, and kick-starting global beta testing at this point does make sense especially since Chinese ROMs have recently grown to be quite different in terms of features when compared to global ROMs.

Hence, Xiaomi wants to make sure that their latest global releases are all in tip-top shape sans any major issues prior to a wider rollout. And what better way to hammer a software into perfection than some good ol’ beta testing?

Anyway, if you are interested in the Indian beta testing program, then you would want to sign up for the same by heading over to this link.

You will be asked to fill out a survey form first of course. But prior to signing up, you would want to ensure that your Xiaomi device is eligible for the MIUI India stable ROM tester program:
