Android is an open-source operating system and with this, we have a market full of different takes on the same source code, all with their own unique user experiences.
These customized versions of Android, commonly known as custom Android skins, bring a wholesome experience to an otherwise barebones mobile operating system.
We’ve also seen a pretty significant improvement in the level of functionality from these skins and today, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a bad Android skin.
Along with different user interfaces and unique built-in features, OEMs now bundle custom fonts into these skins. We’ve seen Samsung with Samsung Sans and SamsungOne, Google with Product Sans and OnePlus with OnePlus Slate and now with OxygenOS 11, OnePlus Sans.
For OnePlus’ case, the OnePlus Slate font was pretty endeared to many users and the move to OnePlus Sans on OxygenOS 11 didn’t sit well with them.
We have reports of OnePlus working to bring back this OnePlus Slate font in OxygenOS 11 but we still don’t have any meaningful timelines attached to the same.
It is now coming to light that users of these OnePlus devices running Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 are facing an issue with the OnePlus Sans font that affects icons and emojis.
There’s a strange problem with whatsapp as the problem is with regard to WhatsApp , the problem is that the default font that is roboto which is perfectly fine on whatsapp but when i switch to OnePlus sans font it appears fully conjusted and the emojis get’s cut as the full emojis doesn’t get applied.

A pretty niche issue but an issue nonetheless. This has since been reported to OnePlus by a number of affected users noting that the scaling on the OnePlus Sans fonts might not be on point.
OnePlus has seemingly listened to these users and in response to one of the user complaints, a OnePlus Staff member says:
We appreciate your efforts to get the required information, Not to worry, our dev team is already working on this and will make sure to get this sorted at the earliest.

With this, users with OnePlus devices running Android 11 should likely look forward to an update that should fix this issue on their devices.
We shall continue to keep an eye on this OnePlus Sans emojis and the prospects of the OnePlus Slate fonts coming back to OnePlus devices and update as and when we get new info.
