OnePlus has been on the ropes over the past couple of months as it struggles to fix issues and bugs that have dogged its Android 11 skin, OxygenOS 11.
This is very uncharacteristic for a company that once dominated and ruled the Android update game.
Like a seemingly never-ending night, OnePlus is still embroiled in repeating cycles of bug-fixing as new bugs keep getting reported each day.
We have a dedicated tracker that is closely following these OxygenOS 11 bugs and issues and their current states and you can check it out for more.
Recently, we’ve looked at an issue where OnePlus device users are unable to access their media files or gallery through parallel apps.
Today we highlight yet another issue afflicting users of the OnePlus 8T, this time having to do with lag issues when accessing recent apps.
According to some of the affected users, this is a pretty long-standing issue with some facing this from as far back as November 2020.
Sometimes when trying to enter recent apps list on OnePlus 8T using gestures gets screen frozen. This started happening immediately when I bought my phone, in November last year (2020).

Swiping up to recent apps is not working properly on my oneplus 8T, most of the times it lags and the action freezes and doesn’t work. This happens mainly when trying to access recent apps while using the phone. Swiping up to recent apps from home screen seems to work well. Anyone facing the same issue? Solution please?
This issue seems to be affecting OnePlus 8T users a lot more when they use the navigation gesture option to go to recent apps(1,2,3,4).
Affected users note that when this recent apps lag issue occurs on their OnePlus 8T devices, the only way to restore and unfreeze the device is by following the following steps.
1. a gesture for back
2. try to get to the home screen (need to do a gesture for this couple of times, because it doesn’t work immediately)
3. get to recent apps and close the app from which screen froze

For others, when gestures stop working the only way to restore functionality is to lock and unlock the phone in order to resolve.
Admittedly, this is not ideal. Consequently, it has prompted affected users to reach out to OnePlus in a bid to get help and have this issue fixed.
In response to one of these user-complaints, OnePlus, through a Staff member goes on to acknowledge this issue noting that it is being taken care of by the developers.
The issue reported by you is being taken care by our developer team and they are currently working on this. We will get back to you in case we would need more information.

We can only hope to see this issue addressed once and for all for these affected users in a subsequent build of OxygenOS 11.
We shall continue to keep an eye on this and many other OxygenOS 11 bugs and report back as and when we get new info so stay tuned.
