New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 30, 2020) follows:

Software updates are like intangible goodies for us tech enthusiasts. While most updates come only with under the hood optimizations, it’s good to know what your smartphone is running on the latest software.

Android smartphone vendors have begun taking software updates a lot more seriously over the years and thus most phones get at least two major Android updates coupled with regular security patches for at least 2 years.

On that note, you can check out our dedicated trackers for the rollout of security updates for devices from all major OEMs and carriers for the months of September and October.

Carriers such as TELUS have made it fairly easy for users to know when their devices are scheduled to get a new monthly patch or even a major OS update beforehand.

This is because they share their OS update schedules to the public and regularly update them to highlight which smartphones will be getting new updates and what comes with the new software.

Well, TELUS has also updated its official software update schedule and has highlighted a few devices that will bag a new update in November.

According to its schedule, TELUS will first be rolling out a software update for the Motorola Moto One Vision on November 2.

This will be a standard security update and will not bring any additional features since the details provided by the carrier only indicate a security patch.

On the following day, i.e., November 3, TELUS will roll out software updates for a handful of Samsung smartphones.

These devices are the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Samsung Galaxy Note 20, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

As far as what comes with these software updates, the Galaxy XCover Pro will be getting a standard security update.

The Galaxy Note 9 will not get a security update, however, the upcoming software is expected to bring optimizations and bug fixes to the device.

Lastly, the Note 20 and the Note 20 Ultra will get the latest security patch as well as a few optimizations and bug fixes with the upcoming update.

Do note that at the time of writing, TELUS updated its software update schedule on October 23.

Therefore, it’s likely that the carrier may add details for other devices as well in the following days.

If past trends are to be followed, we can expect to see the Google Pixel smartphones also being added to the list of devices getting software updates next month.

That being said, none of the smartphones listed (till now) are going to get the update to Android 11.
