Vivo has been rolling out Android 11 (Funtouch OS 11) to its eligible devices slowly but surely over the past few months.

We continue to closely follow the development and deployment of this update and you can check out our dedicated Vivo Android 11 tracker for more.

Just a few days ago, we saw reports that Vivo is rolling out the Android 11-based Funtouch OS 11 to users of the Vivo V17 in India.

Today, the company is looking to further increase its number of devices that have bagged this much-awaited update as it kickstarts the rollout of Android 11 to users of the Vivo V17 Pro, also in India.

However, this rollout is a little different from the official widespread rollout as this is the initial soak-test rollout.

While responding to one of the user-queries on the status of the Android 11 update for the Vivo V17 Pro, Vivo India’s official Twitter handle says:

We are happy to inform you that we have released Android 11 version in greyscale testing purposes for the handset. Please wait for the notification.

With that, users might want to sit tight as they wait for this greyscale testing phase to be concluded so the update can be rolled out to more devices.

However, it is also worth noting that there are a few issues with this build already. Since this is a limited rollout, there are only a few reports but so far, we have seen users complaining of issues with always-on-display.

According to a report from one of the affected users, the always-on-display feature doesn’t seem to work in the said greyscale release.

@Vivo_India i have received android 11 update on my Device vivo v17 pro. After the update always-on-display stopped working.

Needless to say, Vivo is yet to officially acknowledge this reported issue. We can only hope that this, along with any other issues that might be present in this release, get addressed soon.

We shall continue to keep an eye on this and many other Vivo stories so you might want to keep an eye on our dedicated Vivo section for more.
