The Redmi K40 and K40 Pro were first sold on March 4 amidst much excitement from fans. After all, the duo is a part of the immensely popular K series under which the likes of the Redmi K20 Pro were sold a couple of years back.

And the duo’s popularity became clearer when Xiaomi made a Weibo post on the same day as the very first flash sale revealing that they managed to sell over 300,000 units within just five minutes of going on sale.

So yeah, the prospects look good in terms of sales figures. But what about software updates? Well, unsurprisingly, both the K40 and K40 Pro come with the latest MIUI 12 based on Android 11 out of the box.

But of course, MIUI 12.5 is just around the corner and although beta builds for the same were not made available immediately, they sure have started rolling out now.

Keep in mind though that Xiaomi limits their beta testing program to Chinese users only. A number of eligible devices have been receiving beta updates on roughly a weekly basis for several months now.

MIUI 12.5 does bring about several new exciting features too. If interested, you are free to check out this little video demonstration.

You will also be pleased to know that a stable MIUI 12.5 rollout is scheduled to commence from Q2 2021 (next month). And just like the Redmi Note 10 Pro, the K40 series should also be the first ones to get a taste of a stable MIUI 12.5.
