Xiaomi Mi 10 5G is one of the first few 5G devices launched by the company last year. The smartphone was launched with Android 10, and being a flagship-level device, it was certain to get the Android 11 update.

Xiaomi has quite a big pool of devices but not many developers to pay proportion attention to these devices. And therefore, it takes Xiaomi some time to make the transition.

But being the company’s high-end device, Mi 10 was quick to bag the Android 11 update long ago.

As for Europe, the update started rolling out in December but as we know, companies avoid wider rollouts until complete stability is achieved.

And now, even after three months into testing, the update for a major chunk still seems elusive. Users who remain on Android 10 have started to question the company.

To clear the confusion a feedback team member in the Xiaomi community has shed light by replying to a user stating, the Android 11 update was accompanied by some major bugs and for this reason, it didn’t roll out any further.

The Android 11 update for European Mi 10 5G units remains halted for the time being. Here’s his exact statement.

Dear user.
Please note that Android 11 update for the rom you are using is currently available for limited users. Even though devs have released few Android 11 firmware, they couldn’t be released publicly due to major bugs. This is the reason why you couldn’t get Android 11 update. Waiting is the key for now. Keep track on updater app since updates can be released in any time without any exact date information.

FYI, this isn’t the first instance. Android 11 for Mi 10 5G when launched in India had similar encounter with bugs and was immediately pulled back.

This generally happens with most of the OEMs when they make a weighty transition to the latest OS.

However, lying almost at the end of Q1 2021, owners of a flagship device have every right to complain and raise questions about this delay.

Xiaomi has fixed bugs to release the stable version in the past and a similar but quicker response is what device owners of Mi 10 5G in Europe expect now.

While the company has rolled out the Android 11 update to a few devices, many more still await their turn.
