Months after the OnePlus 8 series of devices received the update to Android 11-based OxygenOS 11, we haven’t seen a single eligible device get properly updated to Android 11.
Of course, we recently saw the OnePlus Nord bag the much-awaited update to Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 but even that has since been paused citing bugs and issues.
The case of the OnePlus 7 series of devices is a little more complicated as we’ve recently seen the OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro getting the stable Android 11 update in China.
The base model OnePlus 7 is still stuck waiting for the Open Beta 3 update for both HydrogenOS 11 and OxygenOS 11 due to issues with the always-on-display feature.
Today, the journey for these devices to stable builds of Android 11 is taking yet another unfortunate turn as OnePlus has halted the rollout of the stable HydrogenOS 11 update to the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro in China.
According to a message from OnePlus posted on the company’s Chinese community forum, OnePlus is pulling the plug on the rollout of Android 11 to OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro due to bugs and issues.
Dear friends, some bugs in this version have been tested and still need to be fixed. To ensure the user experience, the push has been temporarily suspended. We are investigating urgently and will issue an updated version as soon as possible in the near future. If you have installed this version, you can fix the problem through subsequent version updates. Thank you all for your patience.
With this, the Android 11 update to the OnePlus 7 series of devices is officially delayed once more. This, because the development of OxygenOS is heavily dependent on that of HydrogenOS.
We shall continue to keep an eye on this halted, long-overdue Android 11 update to the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro and report back as and when we get more info so stay tuned to our continued coverage of the same.
Update 1 (March 22)
IST 12:00 pm:o OnePlus is reportedly resuming the rollout of the stable release of HydrogenOS 11 to users of the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro in China. More on that here.
