The Redmi Note series is Xiaomi’s most popular offering around the world. The series is critically acclaimed for its great specifications at ridiculously low rates.

Thus, every new iteration to date has sold like hotcakes. Their upcoming Redmi Note 10 series has already generated plenty of hype even without the brand advertising about it except through their social media handles.

So yeah, the series gets plenty of well-deserved love. And a large number of sold units always translates to more people excitedly waiting on newer software updates.

This is exactly what’s been going on with the Redmi Note 9, which is also known as the Redmi 10X 4G in China. The device is still running MIUI 12 based on Android 10 and users have been eagerly awaiting the next big update.

Thankfully, there is now some fresh news available stemmed from a recent comment left by a moderator on the Mi Community.

From what we know, Android 11 will be coming first, followed by MIUI 12.5 update. We do not have an ETA. MIUI 12.5 is likely to rollout in Q2 2021 (starting with flagships).

As clear from above, the Redmi Note 9 will receive the Android 11 update, still based on MIUI 12 first, following which MIUI 12.5 will be rolled out sometime in Q2 2021.

Of course, the rollout will commence with the flagships and the newly launched Redmi Note 10 series. Hence, MIUI 12.5 should be made available for the Redmi Note 9 perhaps towards the end of Q2 2021.

The MIUI 12.5 update will hopefully also fix the string of performance issues with the device. We previously highlighted how Xiaomi has temporarily disabled certain inessential features owing to performance issues with the latest update.

All this comes when the Redmi 10X 4G has already bagged a stable Android 11 update in China. The device, as already mentioned, is the Chinese variant of the Redmi Note 9.
