New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on March 03, 2021) follows:

We had previously on February 8 revealed that Xiaomi was looking for applicants for their MIUI pilot testing program. Of course, hundreds of thousands of applications must’ve gone in since then.

The last date for submission was March 1 and now that the date has passed, it is finally time for an official announcement as to who made it to the final list.

There has been a lot of speculation as to what the pilot testing program is actually about. Considering that MIUI 12 is already out for all eligible devices, this program is in no way yet another MIUI 12 build.

This is further solidified by the fact that the official MIUI 12.5 update rollout details for the global markets are already out.

The first batch of devices is slated to bag a stable MIUI 12.5 sometime in early Q2 2021. Hence it would make more sense that Xiaomi wishes to reel in some global testers as well before a final release.

Until now, the MIUI 12.5 beta testing program has strictly been limited to China alone. Global users, therefore, had to resort to alternate means to get a taste of MIUI 12.5. Xiaomi.eu community builds served quite well for this purpose.

Moreover, Android 11 has been out for quite some time now, so no way Xiaomi would be launching a new pilot program to test Android 11. Again, the odds are with MIUI 12.5.

However, even after all this evidence, Xiaomi has remained extremely vague with regards to the kind of builds to be offered through the MIUI pilot testing program.

There was plenty of speculation doing rounds and Xiaomi had recently issued an official statement against it all emphasizing that the recruitment wasn’t for the MIUI 12.5 Global Stable. Due to this, one can’t ever be too sure about anything.

Nonetheless, the full list of applicants that have made it into the program can be accessed via this link.
