OnePlus has admittedly dropped the ball in a big way when it comes to the deployment of its Android 11-based custom skin, OxygenOS 11.

Many months after the OnePlus 8 series bagged this update, no other eligible device in their catalog has managed to bag this build as the company is struggling to fix bugs in this release.

For the OnePlus 7 series of devices, the wait has seemingly been endless. This, as earlier reports suggested that the devices would get updated before the end of 2020.

We have been closely following the development and testing of Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series of devices and you can check out our coverage for more.

At the time of writing, OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T devices have already bagged two Open Beta builds of OxygenOS 11 with many of the bugs being quickly addressed, leading users to hope for a stable release soon.

Well, reports coming in suggest that these users might want to tame their expectations as OnePlus still has another Open Beta build in line for this device before the stable release.

While a third Open Beta build isn’t exactly news, a piece of news that is obviously set to sink the hearts of these users comes in form of a purported communication between OnePlus and a OnePlus user who sort info about this upcoming update.

In the email, OnePlus goes to notify the user that the company’s developers are currently focused on fixing bugs on their newer devices.

This would mean that the company’s efforts are currently not focused on developing and deploying OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 7 devices but to put out fires arising from the update to OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T.

With regards to the question of how much longer these users have to wait for the delayed OxygenOS 11 update to hit their OnePlus 7 devices, we still don’t know for sure.

However, a OnePlus Staff member has since been quoted saying that the Open Beta 3 update should be rolling out pretty soon, subject to confirmation.

For now though, it is pretty likely that the stable OxygenOS 11 update for the OnePlus 7 devices will be delayed and users might want to tame their expectations.

We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned to our coverage of everything we know about this build.
