Original story (published on February 25, 2021) follows:

A couple or so Android smartphone vendors are pushing so hard to take the place that Huawei owned for so long on the global market.

Sure, the Chinese company still has a spot in the upper echelon of the world’s leading smartphone vendors. But with each passing day, this position is ever coming under threat.

The likes of Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo are vying for this spot and we can see this with their recent efforts in matters of software updates.

We all know that these are top companies when it comes to churning out amazing hardware, but they all have struggled for years with respect to software, be it updates or the general user experience.

Over the past year or so, though, things have changed massively — and for the better. Take Oppo, for instance. The company has been pushing harder than ever to ensure its devices have the latest software available.

This is both regular security patches and major Android OS updates. We have a detailed coverage on the updates to both ColorOS 7 based on Android 10 and the latest stable version, ColorOS 11 based on Android 11.

Even better is that the reception of its latest skin, ColorOS 11, has been exceptional, which is quite the rarity. And understandably, every Oppo fan wants a taste of the new skin.

Oppo has been doing a great job detailing availability details of the OS for eligible devices. Not long ago, we got wind of the planned release of ColorOS 11 for the Oppo A91 on February 27, albeit in beta.

And ahead of schedule, the OS is here, at least for those in Indonesia.

Hello, Super Fans! The first batch of A91 ColorOS 11 Beta Version based on Android 11 kicks off in Indonesia. If you want to try the Beta version, please submit your application.

Before you get too excited, there are a few things to note regarding the incoming Oppo A91 ColorOS 11 update.

1. Please backup important data on the phone before updating to avoid the data loss caused by incompatibility or other unforeseen circumstances.
2. After updating to the latest Beta version, the operating system will do several actions to optimize your device automatically. It might lead to your device heating, lagging and fast battery draining. We recommend you to turn off the screen and charge your device for a whole night after it’s updated success. Or keep using device and it will become normal within few days.

3. Some third party applications are not compatible with Android 11. Therefore, after updating these application might not be available or have technical issues including lagging and crashing down in your device. Please try to update these application to the latest version in App Market.

You also must submit an application to be considered for this update since it is still limited to beta testing. Besides having an actual Oppo A91, your phone also must be on at least version C.51.

Application ends on February 28, so better get on with it right away by heading to Settings > Software Update > Click the settings icon on the screen > Apply for Beta Version >Update Beta Version.

Other regions are expected to follow sooner or later, and Oppo urges you to keep an eye on the forums for when this rollout begins. Well, sit back and relax because we will be doing that for you.
