Samsung has been pumping out software updates left and right over the past couple of months. First came the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 updates and now the company has also started rolling out One UI 3.1.

Earlier today, the company began seeding the One UI 3.1 update for the Galaxy S20 series and also claimed that other devices such as the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series will also get it starting from today. More on that here.

The One UI 3.0 or 3.1 skins bring a host of new features, improvements, and general tweaks to enhance the user experience.

Some changes are only for the purpose of eye candy while others offer functional improvements. Of course, this is usually the case with major OS updates.

Speaking of functional changes, it appears that Samsung may add width adjustment options in the Edge Panel with upcoming One UI 3.x updates or possibly even the One UI 4.0 update that would be based on Android 12.

The information was shared by a Samsung moderator in charge of multitasking while responding to a user’s feedback regarding the feature. This is what the mod had to say (translated form Korean to English):

Most users may completely write off the feature, however, some may find it extremely useful, especially when using the phone with one hand.

Considering that Samsung will be bringing the Edge Panel to a range of new smartphones with the One UI 3.0 or One UI 3.1 update, the new width adjustment options would be welcomed.

But that’s not all. Samsung may also improve the multitasking experience with upcoming software updates according to the mod in charge in response to a few complaints (1, 2, 3).

We’re also continuing to improve across the multitasking experience overall, considering who passed comments and we’ll review so that we can deliver better functionality .

Do note that the moderator has not confirmed that the changes will be implemented. Therefore, even though Samsung may take some possible changes into consideration, it does not guarantee that these improvements or features will see the light of day.

Having said that, we will post an update if and when new details surface regarding the width adjustment options for the Edge Panel or multitasking improvements in upcoming One UI 3 or One UI 4 builds from Samsung.
