Several Xiaomi Mi A3 users report green flashes on videos after Android 11 update, no official fix in sight

The Xiaomi Mi A3 is no stranger to software issues. Ever since its launch, the device has seen several bugs emerge with new updates, with some of them being quite major too.

Way back in May 2020, we highlighted how some users started to suddenly face random reboots following a bad update. Fortunately, this was addressed quickly enough.

Android 10 wasn’t the only update plagued with such issues though, as most of you may already be aware, Xiaomi did a major bummer with the Android 11 rollout too.

The update was sort of a New Year’s gift given its release date. But what no one had foreseen was that the update would brick several Mi A3 devices, causing Xiaomi to halt its rollout.

Following this, the update did release once again soon enough but had some missing features, like native screen recording functionality. Luckily, this too was added with the recently released January security patch.

That said, it has now come to light that there is another issue with the Android 11 update on the Mi A3 where video playback is riddled with green-colored glitches/flashes.

Problems with my latest android 11 update on my Xiaomi, it does not play the videos, only the video audios, sometimes something blinks in green in the videos, I have cleared cache and restored the cell phone and it still has the same problem

While most reports say that the issue is reproducible on Instagram stories, TikTok videos, WhatsApp status/videos, and the like, there are also several complaints saying that video recordings from the Mi A3 are flashing green too.

Now, many users did speculate the issue as being hardware-related. However, this obviously isn’t the case given that the green glitches are capturable through screenshots.

Had the issue truly been hardware-related, the green flashes would be limited to the display and not show up on screenshots.

Sadly, there hasn’t been any official acknowledgment for the same to date. But if enough complaints go through, Xiaomi will take note. Therefore, it is advisable to tweet or post on the forums regarding the same.
