Technological advancements often move fast and in the recent past, we have seen a general shift from the legacy methods of placing calls in favor of protocols such as Voice over LTE and Voice over Wi-Fi.
These protocols, aptly referred to as VoLTE and VoWiFi, allow users of supported devices on supported carriers to make high-quality voice calls by leveraging the higher bandwidths offered by 4G and Wi-Fi networks.
However, your stars need to get aligned properly before you can take advantage of these services. As mentioned, you must own a supported device. Then, your carrier has to support and offer this service and you also need to be in a supported area.
The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro were officially unveiled back in 2019 and offered the best that OnePlus had at the time. These devices supported VoLTE.
However, there were a few issues that led to the devices not being able to take advantage of VoLTE offered by some carriers such as the Indian state-owned telecommunications company, BSNL.

This has been the reality for BSNL users using the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T family of devices for as long as they can remember. Luckily, that seems to be ending.
This, as a number of OnePlus 7 users on BSNL are reporting that support for VoLTE seems to have been added with the January 2020 security patch.

This news has been received with a lot of excitement by users who have been waiting for many months for this support to be added and they cannot wait to get this update on their devices.
For these users, it is worth noting that OnePlus is rolling out this update in phases and a small percentage will get the update before a broader rollout follows.
We shall continue to closely follow up on this to determine the extent of this effect and to find out if it is an intended addition by OnePlus. We will also be sure to update as and when we get more communication so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
