New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 30, 2021) follows:
LG is a pretty familiar name when it comes to the tech space. The company has one of the most diverse portfolios of electronic products that range from refrigerators to smartphones.
We shall stick to the latter though, being the smartphone-related news site that we are.
Sure, things are anything but rosy when it comes to the company’s smartphone division. But that has not stopped the OEM from continually launching innovative phones with mind-boggling designs like the LG Wing.
The Korean brand is even touted to launch a rollable phone called the LG Rollable pretty soon. Only these plans have seemingly been put on hold recently as LG Electronics has been rumored to exit the smartphone business.
Nevertheless, amidst all this chaos and speculation, the fact remains clear that LG’s smartphone division has continued working hard in order to provide the latest updates as soon as possible to its lineup. Or is at least trying to.
So kudos to that.
That said, the most recent development when it comes to software updates is regarding their newer offerings — the LG Velvet — which has freshly bagged the Android 11 update in Korea.
As apparent from above, the update has a size of around 2251 MB and quite likely carries the January security patch.
Moreover, while the changelog hasn’t really mentioned much apart from a single line mention of an “Android OS upgrade”, one can still expect a plethora of new features. After all, it is an entire Android version bump.
For the uninitiated, the update brings about a volume adjustment interface change, settings for notification bar point color, and adjustment of the informational pop-up window that appears during a call.
This comes just a month after reports of its beta testing program.
Again, as mentioned above, the Android 11 update for the LG Velvet has seemingly only rolled out in Korea for now. But since it is already out and about, one can expect it to release in other regions soon enough as well.
For now, keep a lookout on our LG Android 11 update tracker to stay in the know.
NOTE: Since it’s unclear whether the update is based on LG UX 10 or Velvet UI, we have made some corrections to the article. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Update 2 (March 15)
04:21 pm (IST): It appears that the initial rollout details shared in the article here may have been incorrect since LG only confirmed rolling out Android 11 for the LG Velvet in Korea a few days ago.
Moreover, user reports have also started coming in after the official announcement and a popular YouTuber — TechAltar — has also confirmed receiving the update to Android 11 on their device (Korea model) yesterday.
This new update bears the software version G900N20e instead of G900N20c that popped up in the screenshot shared originally.
It’s possible that the previous screenshot was tied to a device in the beta program or that the update was only rolled out to a limited number of users.
Update 3 (April 01)
11:58 am (IST): According to a recent report from the LG Newsroom Italy, the Android 11 update is now rolling out to the LG Velvet 5G units in Italy. The latest OS update offers improved security and functionality along with several other enhancements.
Update 4 (April 03)
01:58 pm (IST): After Italy, LG Velvet 5G is receiving the Android 11 update in Australia along with the March security patch.
Update 5 (April 28)
03:15 pm (IST): LG Velvet 5G users in the U.S. with models from AT&T have begun receiving Android 11 update on their devices.
