New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on August 21, 2020) follows:
LG Velvet UI is the company’s latest skin that runs on top of AOSP. Formerly known as LG UX or Optimus UI prior to that, the Velvet UI was announced this year as part of the LG Velvet and LG Velvet 5G devices.
The two Velvet phones are already available in a handful of markets and are expected to keep finding their way to even more regions in the coming weeks and months for that matter. Not only are early adopters impressed with the device build, but also the software that runs the show.
But as usual, not everyone is willing and ready to shell out hundreds of dollars every time a company releases a new phone. Instead, companies have found a way of bringing the experience in their new phones to older phones via software updates.
This is exactly the case for secret admirers of the LG Velvet devices and the all-new Velvet UI. A good number of those still holding onto older LG flagships also want this and LG is giving it to them as requested, but of course, not everyone is going to get the update at once.
Matter of fact, only a handful of LG devices have been given the greenlight as far as the Velvet UI update is concerned, namely LG V50 ThinQ, V50S ThinQ, V40 ThinQ, V35 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G8X ThinQ, and G7 ThinQ. We don’t know yet if this list will grow bigger, but it’s likely.
That said, below are the LG devices that have picked up the Velvet UI update so far. The table will be updated regularly to reflect the latest developments.
