New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 19, 2021) follows:
One UI 3.0 updates are being seeded left and right for eligible devices from Samsung. In the past month, the company has updated several devices to the latest Android version.
The update is now available on devices such as the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, and the Galaxy Fold 5G.
Today, the South Korean giant also released the stable One UI 3.0 update for the Galaxy M31 in India, making it the first mid-ranger to bag the stable update.
That said, One UI 3.0 isn’t the latest skin from Samsung anymore. This is because Samsung released its One UI 3.1 skin alongside the Galaxy S21 lineup which brings a few new features.
You can head here to know all about One UI 3.1 and what it brings to the table.
To date, Samsung has not shared any information regarding the availability of the new skin for other smartphones and tablets.
Therefore, it was expected that we may have to wait a while before the update starts rolling out to other devices.
But it seems that isn’t the case since Samsung has rolled out One UI 3.1 based on Android 11 to the Galaxy Tab S7 variants in its home country.
The new software is available with the build number BUA8 for all models and weighs 2442.56 MB on the Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G.
It also brings the January security patch to the Galaxy Tab S7, S7+, and S7+ 5G as captured by SamFrew.
FYI, according to Samsung’s official timeline, the Galaxy Tab S7 variants were expected to pick up the update to One UI 3.0 in March.
So not only did Samsung surprise us by seeding the update earlier than expected, but it also caught us off guard by rolling out One UI 3.1 to the Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Tab S7+, and Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G directly.
This move makes a lot of sense since it would have been pointless for Samsung to seed the One UI 3.0 skin only to have to release One UI 3.1 a month or two later.
That said, it’s likely Samsung has added the Second Screen functionality with this new update apart from the other standard features that we saw with the S21 lineup. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm the same yet.
Now that One UI 3.1 has been released for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 models in Korea, we can expect the rollout to expand to other regions as well.
Update 1 (January 25)
04:34 pm (IST): The One UI 3.1 update brings a bunch of new productivity features to the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ including the Second Screen function, Auto Switch, Wireless Keyboard Sharing, seamless copy-pasting between other One UI 3.1 devices and more as per a report.
