Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 has been steadily rolling out to eligible devices over the past few months and we have a well-maintained dedicated tracker to keep tabs on that.

In the spirit of looking out for the next big thing, this post is dedicated to keeping track of all the early MIUI 13 details we know so far.

MIUI 12 brought with it countless improvements to eligible Xiaomi devices. Some key user-facing changes include a redesigned notification shade and the adoption of a new iOS-inspired Control Center.

Privacy also took center-stage with countless tools included, all aimed at putting the user in firm control of their data. For a list of all the changes that MIUI 12 brought to devices, check out the MIUI 12 Changelog.

Ideally, MIUI 13 is set to further improve these features and bring even more user-centered features. While it is still pretty early to say definitively which features will be coming, here’s what we know about the MIUI 13 update.

Update 1 (April 29)

Having just unveiled MIUI 12, it turns out that Xiaomi already had an eye on the future, with reports revealing that the Chinese tech giant has an ongoing survey aimed at getting ideas from users on some of the features they would like to see in MIUI 13 update.

Update 2 (May 29)

The Pocophone F1 (Poco F1) remains a rather popular device among gamers and enthusiasts. And device owners would definitely want to know if the next update to MIUI 13 will make it to this handset.

Update 3 (July 7)

An app has recently surfaced on the Google Play Store named MIUI 13 Update Download. Please note that this is not an official Xiaomi app and as such, it is fake.

It is also unclear what exactly this app does, seeing as we’re many months away from any form of MIUI 13 build, let alone a download. More on this in our coverage here.

Update 4 (September 18)

We could soon be bidding farewell to the good old MIUI Power Menu as it is set to pave way for a new Shutdown animation in the upcoming MIUI 13 build.

Update 5 (September 25)

IST 05:40 pm: A new video shared on the MIUI 12 official community on Telegram appears to show off the Power Menu design that’s allegedly part of MIUI 13. It resembles the screenshots we’ve shared above.

IST 05:45 pm: In the second round of the Mi Engineer Face to Face Q&A session, Xiaomi claims that it plans to allow users to develop custom Super Wallpapers. Further, it may even allow users to turn off and on their phone with eye moments and the Health app may also offer ‘blood tests‘. More details here.

IST 05:47 pm: Once again, with the second round of the Mi Engineer Face to Face Q&A, Xiaomi engineers shed some light on MIUI 13 stating that it is under development and MIUI engineers are focusing on optimizing the animations to run more smoothly. More on that here.

Update 6 (September 29)

IST 12:00 pm: While the release of MIUI 13 is still several months away, we have a rough idea about when the company may unveil its next skin over Android-based on past trends. To know more, head here.

Update 7 (September 30)

IST 03:51 pm: As it turns out, the alleged MIUI 13 ‘Power Menu’ video has been claimed to be “nothing more than a scam“, according to a recent post on the Mi community. Check out the details here.

IST 06:42 pm: A Mi community moderator responded to a user’s query regarding MIUI 13 by stating that “We will find out more about it later next year.” This means that we will have to wait a few months before any official statement pops up.

Update 8 (October 12)

IST 07:35 pm: While the development of MIUI 13 may still be in its early stages, there are a few new features that we may see arrive alongside the next MIUI version.

It’s expected that we will see new animations, theme designs, improved gestures, native screen recording, enhanced Always on Display, new filters for photos and videos, improved power-saving mode, enhanced notification management, and more.

Update 9 (October 13)

IST 04:35 pm: It has now come to light through a leak that some new MIUI 13 AI call recording features have been certified by the CNIPA. These include speech-to-text conversion & more. For details, check out our detailed news coverage.

Update 10 (October 23)

IST 04:47 pm: New developments suggest that Xiaomi may add a customizable Vibration Intensity feature alongside the MIUI 13 update. Of course, this information does not come via an official statement and is rather a speculation on our part. More details here.

Update 11 (October 26)

IST 04:20 pm: An unofficial Xiaomi update policy is doing the rounds now which shows the path takes to update its smartphones. The policy shows the number of Android and MIUI updates different series get. Check it out here.

Update 12 (October 30)

IST 06:30 pm: Xiaomi is all set for its Mi Developer Conference (MIDC) from November 5 to November 7. This has led some to speculate that the company could unveil its next skin over Android — MIUI 13. Check out all the details here.

Update 13 (November 03)

IST 06:11 pm: New developments suggest that Xiaomi has tweaked its MIUI 12 beta update release timeline which affects the release nightly and public beta builds. It’s likely that the changes will affect MIUI 13 builds in the future too. Full story here.

Update 14 (November 20)

IST 04:20 pm: According to a Mi Community mod, Xiaomi will present MIUI 13 in the second quarter of 2021. However, the info must be taken with a grain of salt since moderators aren’t employees of the company and thus aren’t privy to inside info. Full coverage here.

Update 15 (December 11)

IST 11:15 am: It appears Xiaomi would first roll out the MIUI 12.5 update to users before it unveils MIUI 13 later next year. Head here to know more about the matter.

Update 16 (January 15, 2021)

12:29 pm (IST): Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 and Mi Note 11 have been spotted on the official HTML source code with MIUI 13 as the software running the show out of the box.

Update 17 (March 20, 2021)

05:52 pm (IST): A Mi Community Super Moderator has hinted that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 is eligible for the MIUI 13 update. For more details, check this out.

Update 18 (May 5, 2021)

03:16 pm (IST): According to a new report, MIUI 13 is set to launch this year in June. However, the Mi 9 series may never see the light of the update. For more details, head here.

Update 19 (May 8, 2021)

01:40 pm (IST): The MIUI 13 update may bring along a revamped package installer and an option to expand RAM. More details here.

Update 20 (May 11, 2021)

04:08 pm (IST): A Xiaomi executive has clarified that the MIUI 13 update June 25 release date rumors and the alleged list of MIUI 13-eligible devices are fake. More details here.

Update 22 (June 07, 2021)

02:59 pm (IST): The latest Cleaner app beta update has revealed that Xiaomi is already adapting its native applications to the next generation MIUI 13. More details here.

Update 23 (June 23, 2021)

06:15 pm (IST): Just a day after the previous release, we now have another MIUI 13 File Manager build that changes the icons within some more. To download, head here.

Update 25 (June 25, 2021)

01:36 pm (IST): MIUI 13 may be introduced as early as August 2021, a company executive has hinted with a statement on Weibo. Head here for details.

Update 27 (July 02, 2021)

11:04 am (IST): As per a report, the MIUI 13 China ROM is touted to come with multilang support.

Currently, applications are running while showing the contents in a user-selected language, while System UI and some other elements are still in English.

If you have MIUI 12.5 China Beta, you can open it as follows:
1. Download Activity Launcher from Google Play.
2. Search for “com.android.settings.Settings$LanguageAndInputSettingsActivity” from Activity Launcher.
3. In the Language section, add the language as in the video.

Update 28 (July 06, 2021)

11:04 am (IST): A new report has shown that Xiaomi has now kickstarted MIUI 13 development in the Chinese beta testing channel with version 21.7.6. Head here for details.

Update 29 (July 07, 2021)

11:04 am (IST): The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is likely to be the first-ever device to run MIUI 13 as per this report. It is also said that MIUI 13 will offer functional plugins from which users can select and install as per their liking, to reduce the bloatware problem.

Update 30 (July 09, 2021)

12:32 am (IST): The first MIUI 13 build seems to be set to release soon but it also now seems unlikely that the Mi Mix 4 will be coming with MIUI 13. This is because Mi Mix 4 might launch too soon – as early as July 16. More on that here.

Update 31 (July 12, 2021)

01:19 pm (IST): The MIUI 13 update is slated to bring along new system icons and home screen widgets as per a report.

Update 32 (July 14, 2021)

03:27 pm (IST): The Android 12 beta testing has now reportedly started for Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10T, and Mi 10 Ultra and we have a reason to believe it has something to do with MIUI 13.

Update 34 (July 20, 2021)

12:48 pm (IST): The MIUI 13 update is likely to introduce a revamped Control Center. While the design itself hasn’t been altered that much, several elements seem to have been moved around.

12:48 pm (IST): A reliable leakster has now given a list of features that are extremely likely to make it to MIUI 13. These include:

• Memory Fusion Technology
• New Desktop Icons
• New Fonts

Update 36 (July 24, 2021)

01:34 pm (IST): A Xiaomi executive has dropped a rather cryptic post on Weibo saying that after a 5-year journey, a new chapter has come. Xiaomi fans have been trying hard to decipher it, with fingers being pointed towards MIUI 13, a new Mi Mix device, or an upgraded Chinese Mi Community.

Update 37 (July 26, 2021)

11:21 pm (IST): MIUI 13 will allegedly bring along new features like Gesture Turbo 2.0, brand new small window, new Control Center, and more. While it’s unconfirmed info, you can find details for it here.

Update 38 (July 30, 2021)

05:42 pm (IST): Android 12 internal testing for the Poco F2 Pro/Redmi K30 Pro has commenced in China. It is likely that it is related to MIUI 13. Head here for details.

Update 39 (July 31, 2021)

05:06 pm (IST): Following a File Manager revamp for MIUI 13, it appears that Game Turbo may soon also be getting a redesign for Xiaomi’s next big OS upgrade. Head here for details.

05:29 pm (IST): MIUI 13 update has been delayed due to Android 12 internal testing for several devices, as per this report. It is unverified info though so take it with a pinch of salt.

Update 40 (August 02, 2021)

04:33 pm (IST): The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 has now been confirmed to not launch with MIUI 13 as per this report.

Update 41 (August 03, 2021)

02:54 pm (IST): There have been plenty of leaks and rumors about an imminent MIUI 13 release but those have now been laid to reset by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun who says that MIUI 13 will be released by the end of the year. Details here.

Update 42 (August 11, 2021)

12:54 pm (IST): While MIUI 13’s release date has been pushed to the end of the year, a new version of MIUI 12.5 is currently in works called MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition. It will be rolling out to flagship devices initially and following is all that you can expect with it:

1. Swift performance: More life between the charges.

2. Focused algorithms: Our new algorithms will dynamically allocate system resources based on specific scenes, ensuring a smooth experience on all models.

3. Atomized memory: Ultra-fine memory management mechanism will make RAM usage more efficient.

4. Liquid storage: New sensitive storage mechanisms will keep your system vibrant and responsive as time goes by.

12:15 pm (IST): The MIUI 13/MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition Control Center tweaks the media player notification. It can be expanded to reveal volume and track-seeking controls.

01:15 pm (IST): Most may already be aware that MIUI 13 will be bringing cool iOS-inspired widgets. But a Mi Community super moderator has now shared previews of the new widgets in action. Details can be found here.

Update 46 (September 06, 2021)

12:48 pm (IST): Xiaomi is testing a new feature called “MIUI Pure Mode” in China. It aims to address the security concerns associated with potentially malicious Android apps. It essentially disables sideloading of APKs.

The feature will be a setting that one can disable or enable as per a user’s needs. A release date wasn’t given out but it will likely be making its debut with MIUI 13.
