New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 22, 2020) follows:

The Samsung Galaxy A70 launched with Android 9 Pie pre-installed and has since then bagged the update to Android 10 as well as the One UI 2.5 skin recently.

At present, the One UI 2.5 update isn’t live in all regions where the device is sold, however, users can expect to receive the update within the next few days or weeks if they haven’t already.

Since One UI 2.5 is still based on Android 10, it does not bring a major number of new features or even a major UI overhaul to the device.

Samsung saves most of the big improvements for the skin that tags along with a new Android version. The latest of which is the One UI 3.0 update which is based on Android 11.

The Samsung Galaxy A70 is eligible for the update to Android 11 which brings the One UI 3.0 skin and is slated to get it in May next year, at least in Europe, as per the company’s official rollout schedule.

However, even though we’re months away from the planned rollout, it appears Samsung is already testing Android 11 on the Galaxy A70.

This information comes from a tip by one of our readers who has shared a screenshot of the CheckFirm app wherein it appears that a new test firmware has been spotted for the Galaxy A70 (SEK) model sold in Ukraine with the build number DTL4.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the new test firmware appears to be based on Android 11 rather than Android 10.

The individual has also mentioned that the same firmware was also spotted for the (PHE) model that’s sold in Spain.

Hello! the Galaxy A70 in the region of Ukraine (SEK) and Spain (PHE) already appears in tests a version of android 11 and One UI 3.0 (DTL4) (Source)

At present, the latest official firmware for the Galaxy A70 units in Europe has the build number CTK4 which is based on Android 10 and brings the One UI 2.5 skin.

Considering that Samsung has already begun testing Android 11 for the Galaxy A70 in Europe, it’s possible that the company may begin rolling out the update earlier than planned.

Since devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE also bagged the One UI 3.0 update earlier than expected we can speculate that the same might be possible for the Galaxy A70.

Of course, we will continue to track the situation and will post an update once new details go live.

In the meantime, you can check out our dedicated tracker to know more about the status of One UI 3.0 for all eligible Samsung phones.

Thank you for the tip, Alex!

Update 4 (January 29)

Yet another test build has been spotted for the Galaxy A70. The build number is DUAB and was uncovered for the Galaxy A70 model sold in Spain. Given the number of test builds surfacing recently, it’s possible that the stable update may go live soon.
