The upcoming MIUI 12.5 has been the talk in many Xiaomi forums for the last couple of weeks or so. And for good reason. MIUI 12.5 promises stability and system optimizations ahead of MIUI 13 update.

The timelines for this update are pretty much known at this point. Aside from the eligible devices, we know that the stable release should hit supported devices sometime in February 2021.

That puts the release date a little over two months away and in line with that, we’re now seeing Xiaomi breaking the ground with respect to this new operating system.

Earlier reports indicated that Xiaomi was planning to officially unveil this new skin on December 28 to coincide with the launch of the Mi 11 series launch.

True to the company’s word, today we’re getting word that Xiaomi is officially opening up MIUI 12.5 closed beta registration for up to 21 supported models.

To register for this MIUI 12.5 closed beta program, users will need a WeChat account. They then need to visit this site to fill up the registration details.

Also worth noting is that some other devices that are eligible for the update to MIUI 12.5 are missing from this closed beta registration list. These include the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8 Pro, and the Poco F1 that’s been rumored to be eligible.

Update 1 (January 05)

03:08 pm (IST): Having arrived preinstalled with MIUI 12, the Mi 11 is now eligible for an update to MIUI 12.5 beta. Below is the download link available so far:
