Realme has been doing a series of interactive sessions with the fans. AskMadhav, Weekly Solutions, QnA with Devs, etc. have helped the OEM establish two-way communication with the users.

The agenda of these sessions is to engage with the fans and address as many issues as possible. Weekly Solution is one of the ways in which Realme compiles all the ongoing doubts, FAQs, and reveals their current status.

Realme UI 2.0 is around the corner and a good number of devices are in line to receive the update. This has left users wondering whether their desired features would make it to the final version of Realme UI 2.0.

In the 38th episode of Weekly Solutions, admins have shortlisted a wide range of issues that is troubling users, as well as some Realme UI 2.0 feature related disclosures.

The major takeaway is the issue surrounding Realme 6 and Realme 7 users who seem unable to stream Amazon Prime content in HD, in spite of having the Widevine L1 certification. Realme goes on to offer a workaround which says:

Q. Why HD videos on Amazon Prime cannot be streamed on realme 6 and realme 7?

A. realme 6 and realme 7 do support HD video playback for Amazon Prime videos. In order to enjoy the HD video playback, please make sure to:

1) Check that the source video format is indeed H. 264 / AVC;

2) Manually turn on hardware acceleration in Amazon Prime Video;

3) Keep in mind that playing non-hd videos (such as H. 265, V9P videos) will cause for the hardware acceleration to automatically turn off. You will need to turn it back one to play HD content.

Next is a feature called Personal Information Protection that has gone missing from the new devices, and will completely be removed from the existing ones with a future OTA update. Here’s the reason why:

Q. Why is Personal Information Protection missing from my device?

A. Google has updated Android 11’s Compatibility Definition Document (CDD) to clarify what features should be included or not by the OEMs, and whether that inclusion is to be mandatory or only strongly recommended. As a close partner to Android and to maintain a long-term cooperation with Google, we plan to remove the Personal Information Protection feature from realme UI 2.0. Some devices may have already been shipped without this feature, while it will be removed from others via an OTA.

Realme has also shed some light on the features that would make it to the Realme UI 2.0 including 3rd-party icons, a voice changer feature in the game space, and discussion around the availability of a few other features as well. Here’s the snippet of the Q&A:

Q. Do realme UI 2.0 support all 3rd party icon packs of the Play Store? What icon style is applied to the apps which are not supported in the downloaded icon pack?

A. Yes, all 3rd party icons are supported, and the default style is kept for those apps that are not supported in the downloaded icon pack.

Q. Will the Voice Changer feature in Game Space come to all devices eligible for realme UI 2.0?

A. No, this feature will not be provided. Accurately recognizing and adjusting to different accents can be complicated. After thorough testing the results are not on par with our standards.

Q. Do realme XT, realme X, realme 5 Pro, and realme 3 Pro support the App Quick Freeze feature?

A. Yes, they all do. It’s only that this feature has been integrated directly to the system in order to work in the background – hence there is not an actual setting switch for it.

Q. Can the camera flash be used to notify of incoming messages and notifications?

A. This feature will not be provided. Upcoming notifications pop up on the AOD or turn the screen on – both ways are less invasive than having the camera LED flashing all the time.

Q. Will realme UI support AOD always on while charging with a future update?

A. No, there is currently no plan for this – yet the AOD on AMOLED screen uses very little power so there is barely any impact by leaving it always on.

Q. Can devices that launched with Google’s dialer and messages apps receive the realme’s counterparts via an OTA? Is there any workaround?

A. No, this is not possible because of the agreement with Google for those devices. If you have any issue about the Google dialer and messages, please share your feedback with us and we will forward it to Google.
