[Update: May 21] Xiaomi releases official statement on Redmi Note 9S/Pro random reboot issue

The Redmi Note 9 Pro (global) and Redmi Note 9S are among the few Xiaomi devices that have been facing the random reboot issue for quite some time.

Xiaomi has listed the aforementioned issue in the last two MIUI weekly bug reports, urging those affected to stick around for a fix.

Now, the OEM has released an official statement regarding the random reboot issue that has been affecting the Redmi Note 9 Pro (global) and Redmi Note 9S.

As per the statement, the random reboot issue was triggered by a third-party SDK which was causing a compatibility issue.

The statement further highlighted that the aforementioned issue has now been fixed by the third-party SDK provider.

We have noticed that a compatibility issue caused by a third-party SDK has brought unwanted reboots on users’ smartphones. As of now, this issue has been resolved by the SDK provider.

Apart from that, the statement also outlines that those who are still experiencing the random reboot issue are advised to manually restart their device.

Once the device gets connected to a stable network, users are to wait for about 3-5 minutes in order for the issue to get fixed.

It must be noted that the said issue was affecting the global and European Redmi Note 9 Pro units running MIUI 11 and Qualcomm already released a new case for the same.

For users who are currently experiencing this inconvenience, please restart the devices and wait for 3-5 minutes after connecting to a stable network to manually resolve this issue.

However, all Xiaomi devices, including the Redmi Note 9S, were facing the “Find the device closed unexpectedly and device reboot” issue.

Users also speculated that the ‘Find the device’ issue was caused by the Airtel Thanks app, with Xiaomi promising to address it in a future OTA update.

With the official statement, it seems that the OEM is now confident this issue has been finally addressed.

To follow up to the official statement on this issue, a Mi forum moderator says a firmware-based fix can be expected in the next update for affected users.

Of course, the different devices in question will be updated at different intervals, so there is no way to tell when the said bug-fixing update will arrive.

It should have fixed itself, but I’m expecting a firmware based fix in the next update.

Sadly, as per several reports [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7], the auto restarting issue has persisted with the MIUI 12 update as well. Xiaomi definitely needs to sort their stuff and fix this crucial bug asap.
