Xiaomi will be suspending its MIUI 12 beta program from today i.e., December 14, as the OEM will be preparing to release the MIUI 12.5 update.

While the MIUI 12 update is officially out for as many as 31 Xiaomi devices, there are still a few devices left to get it. More on that here.

It is clear that MIUI 12.5 is an intermediate update which will act as a bridge to MIUI 13. This means that all devices that will get MIUI 12.5 might also be eligible for MIUI 13.

This is not yet confirmed as the OEM has not clearly stated the same but recent information suggests that the intermediate update will prepare Xiaomi devices for the next MIUI iteration.

Now, the General Manager at Xiaomi Indonesia, Alvin Tse, has stated that MIUI 12.5 will offer more stability and optimization before eligible devices get MIUI 13.

MIUI 12.5 the next upgrade before MIUI 13 will offer much optimisation and stability. Stay tundd

This clearly indicates that the upcoming MIUI 12.5 version might essentially be a preparatory update before the next major MIUI release.

Apart from that, MIUI 12.5 will also bring along several new features and improvements to Xiaomi devices like image to PDF converter, redesigned UI elements, and much more.

Another thing to note is that Xiaomi might release MIUI 12.5 on top of the latest Android version for several devices whereas some devices will get the new skin without an upgraded Android OS.

This is still based on our speculation as the OEM has not shed any light on the upcoming custom skin coming alongside a new Android version.

Nevertheless, it is still good to see that Xiaomi is constantly improving its in-house custom skin to better meet user requirements.

That said, we will keep tracking the development of MIUI 12.5 and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
