Original story (published on November 21, 2020) follows:

The OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T are some of the best Android smartphones that users can get their hands on as of now.

All three devices offer excellent specifications for their respective prices and even put some premium flagship smartphones to shame in certain departments.

Moreover, the OnePlus 8T is one of the first phones to ship with Android 11 right out of the box. This means that the device should be eligible for the update to Android 14 too.

As for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, the company began rolling out the stable OxygenOS 11 update based on Android 11 in October, which is a tad later than expected, but we aren’t complaining.

Prior to this, OnePlus was testing Android 11 via the Open Beta program for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.

Matter of fact, the company even rolled out the OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 4 update for the two aforementioned devices yesterday (November 20).

This is a good sign since it shows that OnePlus is working on fixing bugs and issues on its OxygenOS 11 skin via feedback from beta testers.

And speaking of bugs, OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus 8T users have been dealing with quite a few bugs and issues such as the Nightscape mode pink-ist tint, VoLTE and VoWiFi issues, and touch lag issues to name a few.

Now, OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and even OnePlus 8T users are reporting that their device is lagging or hanging at random and it seems a bug is causing the system UI to crash unexpectedly.

We’ve shared several user reports below:

I am on android 11 beta. For the last 1 week I am fed up with “system ui” crashing every now and then. This happens when I am not using the phone. Sometimes the phones starts by itself.

Luckily, affected users may not have to wait too long for OnePlus to release a fix for the issue since a staff member on the company’s community forums has claimed that the problem is being taken care of by the developers.

We would like to inform you that the issue is taken care by the developer and the issue will be fixed in the upcoming OTA updates.

The staff member’s comment was made in response to a OnePlus 8 Pro user who was facing the issue, however, it’s more than likely that OnePlus will fix the problem on the OnePlus 8 and 8T as well.

Having said that, we will continue to keep a track on all further developments regarding the “System UI isn’t responding” bug on the OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus 8T and will post an update once new details surface.

Meanwhile, you can also head here to check out all the bugs and issues that have been reported by users on OxygenOS 11. For OnePlus 8T specific bugs and issues you can find more details here.

As for the OxygenOS 11 update for other eligible OnePlus devices, you can keep an eye out on our dedicated tracker to know when it arrives on your device.
