OnePlus is, for the most part, an enthusiast brand and one way the company is using to keep its customers happy is by engaging with them and listening to their feedback.
OxygenOS 11 has been out for about two months now and at the time of writing, the OnePlus 8 series of devices have been updated to this, while the OnePlus 8T ran this out of the box.
This custom Android skin from OnePlus has received praise and criticism in an equal measure owing to its drastic departure from look and feel of previous builds of OxygenOS.
However, and as expected from any piece of software, OxygenOS 11 has not been without its fair share of issues. We have a dedicated tracker keeping tabs on these issues and you can check that out here.
.
Today, OnePlus, through its monthly OxygenOS FAQ for the month of Nov 2020, goes to highlight some of the most asked questions and issues affecting OxygenOS 11.
Here are some of the most asked questions surrounding OnePlus’ Android 11 custom skin and the company’s stand.
Q: My contact’s information did not update after I edited it.
A: Please check whether the contact is a “linked contact” (linked contacts are marked with a unique icon in the lower right corner of the contact photo). If yes, please follow the steps below:
Go to Phone – Tap the three dots in the upper right corner – Contacts Manager – Merge contacts – Quick merge.
Q: Dark Mode doesn’t turn on automatically as per my preset starting time.
A: Please note that Dark Mode will not turn on automatically while the phone is in use as the sudden switch may cause discomfort. Dark Mode will turn on the next time you unlock your phone. (*Custom start time can only activate Dark Mode while the phone is locked.)
Q: The Gallery takes too long to load under OxygenOS 11.
A: We have been working on this issue, and the Gallery has been optimized in the latest version. You can update the Gallery to version 4.0.94 for faster loading speed. In the future, we will continue to optimize the loading speed of the Gallery. Please stay tuned for future updates.
OnePlus 8T users have noted that the Parallel apps feature on their devices running the latest OxygenOS 11 is not working. OnePlus says that this has been fixed and update is awaiting deployment
Q: The parallel apps feature isn’t functioning properly on OnePlus 8T.
A: This is an issue we were working on and has been fixed. It will be released in the upcoming version. Please stay tuned.
Q: Cricket card on the Shelf is not displaying the live score.
A: Thanks for sharing your feedback. If you face this issue, please check if you still see the ESPN logo on your card. If yes, please update your app to the latest version from the Play Store.
Q: I’m not able to update or install OnePlus Gallery and apps from the Play Store on OnePlus 8 series & 8T.
A: This issue has been fixed, please update your system to the latest OxygenOS 11.

Q: Why do some third-party apps and functions crash or are unresponsive on OxygenOS 11?
A: This may happen because some third-party apps have not yet adapted to Android 11. We are actively communicating with the third-party app teams about this issue.
You can also provide feedback to the three-party apps simultaneously to speed up the adaptation. Please watch out for the app updates.
Q: Why must I swipe down from the home screen to access Shelf?
A: After updating to OxygenOS 11, swiping down from the home screen is the default setting to access Shelf. You can choose to access quick settings instead: Long press the desk home screen – Tap on “HOME SETTINGS” – “Swipe down to access” – Select “Shelf” or “Notifications & Quick Settings” according to your preference.
Q: Why are the VoLTE and VoWifi services on the OnePlus 8 series and 8T not available in some areas after updating?
A: We are currently working with the operators closely, and these would be available soon in the upcoming updates.
These are, by no means, the only issues that have been afflicting users of OxygenOS 11. As mentioned earlier, we have been keeping tabs on these issues in our OxygenOS 11 bugs and issues tracker.
We shall continue to keep an eye on these issues and update as and when they get addressed so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
