New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 6, 2020) follows:

Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 has grown old while waiting for the Android 10 stable update as there are still many issues even in the current beta 4.

It has been almost a year since the ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android 10 beta testing started and the OEM is still trying to refine the same.

Now, some development appears to be taking place in terms of an existing issue present on the Android 10 beta 4 (build 432) update for the device in question.

A user inquired about the existing black flash issue while switching between apps and home screen with Android 10 gesture navigation.

A ZenTalk community moderator has responded to the user stating that the said concern is still being looked into.

Still under investigation. We will keep you updated and your consideration will be very much appreciated.

While not much information was shared by the moderator, the response still suggests that the OEM has not given up on the ZenFone Max Pro M1 yet.

This might also mean that the ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android 10 stable update might arrive in the near future.

This is still based on our speculation as there is no official word about the stable rollout but we hope the OEM delivers the much awaited update before the year ends.

While the stable Android 10 update is still awaited for the device in question, Android 11 has been around unofficially in the form of custom ROMs for quite some time.

We saw an unofficial Android 11 beta for the ZenFone Max Pro M1 way back in June while a more stable AOSP build arrived back in September.

Also, the renowned Android 11-based LineageOS 18 is also available for the ZenFone Max Pro M1 since early October. More on that here.

The development of custom ROMs indicate that enthusiasts have not yet given up on the ZenFone Max Pro M1 but a lot of regular users might not be considering Asus for their next smartphone because of this fiasco.

Nevertheless, the moderator’s comment also indicates that Asus is still working on the much awaited OS update, hence, users should not lose hope.

That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide more details once new information becomes available.

Moreover, we are maintaining a dedicated Asus Android 11 update tracker so be sure to go through it as well.

Update 1 (November 19)

IST 06:30 pm: According to an Asus mod, the black flash issue while using the gesture navigation function to switch from an app to the homepage is a “default setting”. The mod goes on to claim that the problem exists on devices from other brands too.
